The Augusta Literary Festival was amazing and so much fun this year. #CR4U

I reconnected with some Clean Indie Reads group authors as well as others from the Central Savannah River Area and beyond.  I’m excited to say that many people purchased complete sets of the first 5 books in the Children of Angels series and I’m looking forward to hearing from them as they discover the world of the Nephilim.  Special thanks to long-time fan dear friend Faith McCoy for coming out and supporting us during the festival and as always many thanks to my hubby Will for helping make it all come together for me.  I’d also be remiss to not thank Cheryl Corbin and everyone involved with the ALF for all of their hard work in making the festival a success.

I also revealed the newly redesigned Perry Elizabeth cover for book 1 in the series.  This new cover should go live sometime this week.

So many people indicated that they loved the new cover and it helps me to overcome the bittersweet feeling I have about moving away from my initial cover featuring photography by Michael Drummond.  I have enjoyed his photography so much as I began this journey that I will be ordering one final set of the original covers to keep on my shelf.  The original covers will always be on the website as well because they hold a special place in my heart.

Are services like Scribd and Oyster going to be like Netflix for Books?

I hadn’t given much thought to Scribd and Oyster until recently. If you are not familiar with these services, they have been compared to Netflix in that paying a monthly fee offers the subscriber the opportunity to read as many books as they like. Having my books on Smashwords brought these distribution options over the last few months. As part of their deal with Smashwords, I received a free year subscription to Scribd. Will and I downloaded the app and immediately searched to find my books there.

I can’t help but think this is a good thing for indies as each avenue that opens up for us to get more readers should help us to build a fan base. I do wonder, though, what this type of thing means for books/ebooks in general. As I understand it, an author gets paid if/when someone reads over a certain percentage of a book, doesn’t seem like a bad deal. Not much different than offering a free sample, or similar. Would you be willing to pay a monthly fee to read books? If you haven’t read my books, I know they are on Scribd, they are also supposed to be on Oyster. I think both services have a free trial. I’d love to hear your thoughts about such services and I would certainly be honored to hear your thoughts if you choose to try my books this way.

Happy Reading!
Natalie

My First Amazon UK Review

I have been a little apprehensive about how my books would go over in the UK, since my main character and her family is from there and a good portion of the story is based there.  Well, I recently got my first review from a reader in the UK and it was indeed positive!

Not only that, but it was from a fellow author there!!  As I’ve been completely consumed in writing my series I haven’t had a chance to read any of her books yet, but I feel the least I can do is share her information.  Some of you might find something of interest.

Summer Is Here (For Me At Least)

I know summer doesn’t officially start for another 3 weeks, but as far as my ‘day job’, IT IS NOW SUMMER for me.  This is good news for you and me.  Summer is when I can be most productive in my writing.  I’m currently in the middle of the 7th book in my Children Of Angels series.  This also means I will have time to return and begin to edit the 4th book.  I learned with book 3 not to set deadlines for myself, but I hope I will get the yet to be formally named 4th book completed and released for you by late summer or early fall.  Hang in there, readers!

Now back to writing…
